Counselor Corner

Hello, Mustangs!

My name is Emily White, and I will be your new school counselor. I'm excited to join the Madison community with amazing families and students. I will be on campus every Tuesday and Friday and alternating Mondays. If you need assistance on days I am not on campus, please leave a note with the office, and I will follow up as soon as possible.

Meet the Counselor

I grew up in Lakewood and attended LBUSD schools, so I'm overjoyed to serve this neighborhood. I have worked within LBUSD for almost eight years. My first assignment was as an instructional aide at Madison, working in our SDC classrooms. So, Madison has a special place in my heart. I completed my BA in Psychology at CSULB and MS at The University of La Verne. I am passionate about working with students and helping them see their full potential. Every one of our students has unique backgrounds, experiences, and personalities, and I aim to provide them with support and resources to make them successful members of our society. Students learn best in a comfortable and safe environment; I'm confident they can find that at Madison.

Important information for 23-24 School Year

As we move into the new school year, remember that your students' attendance impacts their academic success. Please get your students to school on time to be ready to learn. Every minute of the school day counts! If you are having difficulties that impact your student's attendance, please reach out to me or the office, and we can work together to ensure your student has every opportunity to be successful.

Family Resource Center

Madison now has the Family Resource Center that provides comprehensive student services, including short-term individual and/ or small-group counseling. Family Resource Centers (FRCs) offer support services to meet the social, emotional, and behavioral health needs within a cluster of LBUSD schools. The FRC staff comprises School Counselors, Psychologists, and School Social Workers. They also work collaboratively with families to connect them to community resources, school-based services, and parent education workshops. The services provided by FRC staff will be at no cost to students and families enrolled in an FRC school. No Medi-Cal or insurance is required to receive benefits. Please see me about the referral process.

School-Based Mental Health

Madison works with a School-Based Mental Health agency. The focus of the collaboration is to make services accessible to students and families experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges. If your student would benefit from services, please contact me, and I can provide more information.

If you have any concerns or inquiries, please email me at I look forward to serving your students. Let’s have a wonderful year!
